Every cruise control has to be fitted and set up properly to work faultlessly and give you comfortable, safe driving. The job is not complicated, but it does call for some basic hands-on skill. If you already work on your own car, you will be fine.
Fit it yourself or hand it to a garage?
Plenty of people fit cruise control themselves. Every kit comes with a detailed manual that walks you through each stage of the installation, and if you get stuck we are on the phone or on email. You can equally hand the job to any mechanic or auto electrician. Even if they have never seen our cruise control before, they will not have a problem with it.
What you need for the job
Every kit we sell is complete and ready to fit. Inside you get the control unit, the command module, the main wiring harness, the throttle pedal harness matched to your car, and manuals for installation, calibration and everyday use. As for tools, you need a set of screwdrivers, a soldering iron and a drill with a 10 mm bit.

How the installation goes
You start by choosing a spot for the command module on the steering column cover and drilling it. Next you connect the wiring to the throttle pedal. Pick a place for the control unit where it sits out of sight, around the left pillar. Then connect and solder the wires listed in the manual. Finally you calibrate the unit and take the car out for a test drive. Done properly, the installation will keep working for years. Often it outlasts the car it went into.
How long does it take?
Fitting normally takes around 3 hours. The differences come down to how handy you are and which car you are working on. Access to the connection points is easier on some models than others.
Fitting the command module
The command module should go wherever the driver can reach it without taking a hand off the wheel. Depending on what you prefer, it can go on the left or the right side of the steering column cover. Alongside the standard command module we also offer a panel version with buttons.
Calibration
Once fitted, the cruise control still needs calibrating so it holds a steady speed correctly. Calibration is simple and, depending on the car, takes between 5 and 20 minutes. We calibrate to your car without touching the software in the onboard computer, and the procedure needs no extra tools. You do the whole thing with the command module and the pedals. Some cars need a short drive to finish it.
